Ricky Li is a Honolulu based photographer, who went from a decade long career in Information Technology to a full time position as a social media specialist with the state of Hawaii in roughly 3 years. Through the use of social media, he’s been the official photographer to a Governor of Hawaii, worked with Pacific Command, Pacific Fleet, Pacific Air Forces and Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command to provide photographic coverage of various events. Such as a visit of the Philippine navy ship BRP Gregorio Del Pilar at Pearl Harbor, USS Ronald Reagan, RIMPAC 2010 exercises, tours of various facilities and other special ceremonies. In addition, he was a photographer & “twitterer/facebooker” in the Abercrombie for Governor 2010 netroots social media team.
Using social media, he has coordinated fundraisers, photowalks, photo classes, a wedding, a variety of events, as well as creating numerous connections both in and out of Hawaii. Recently Ricky started to cover, artistic events such as the painting of the Water Writes Mural at Honolulu Community College, Onipa`a mural in Kakaako and others. As well as helping with a few charities/non-profits like MADD Hawaii and occasionally volunteers with Lanakila Pacific's Meals on Wheels program. With the connections made over the past few years, Ricky hopes to one day launch a project that will combine his love of travel and photography.
